Easy Puffed Wheat Squares

Puffed Wheat Squares are a super popular bar back home in Winnipeg, and it seems to be mostly a Canadian Prairies tradition.  Super easy to make, they're a great addition to any holiday dessert tray!

YOU WILL NEED: Puffed Wheat Cocoa Powder Corn Syrup Brown Sugar Butter Vanilla Extract Salt

Combine butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa, and salt, bring to a boil for 2 minutes, then add vanilla.

Pour hot chocolate mixture over puffed wheat, stir (carefully!) until all of the wheat is coated with chocolate.

Firmly press mixture down into the pan, until compacted and relatively flat.  You can use lightly greased hands, I like to use parchment paper and an oven mitt. Allow puffed wheat bars to cool to room temperature.

Once cooled, cut into bars. Enjoy!
